Last Walk Home

frustrated, you shove your phone back into your pocket and make the decision to walk home. The park is quiet as you enter through its rusted gate, your footsteps the only sound echoing in the cool evening air.

As you pass through, a blocked alley catches your attention. A thick wall of bushes stands in the way, but with a swift cut, you push through. On the other side, your heart skips a beat—there’s a body lying motionless on the ground. You hesitate, your breath catching in your throat, but curiosity pushes you closer. Next to the lifeless figure lies a key, an ID card, and a handgun. You decide to leave the body untouched, taking only the key before pressing on.

You reach the next gate, sliding the key into the lock. As the door creaks open, a shadow flickers in the corner of your eye, but it's too late. A sharp pain stabs through your back. The last thing you feel is the cold steel of a knife as everything fades to black.
